It’s no surprise how quickly Amazon asserted its dominance over traditional retailers.

Among other competitive advantages, the e-commerce behemoth is able to analyze the troves of customer data it collects through purchases or searches on its online marketplace to suggest new products to clients — a practice that could subject it to federal antitrust scrutiny.
